Dixons Marchbank are taking part in the Clean Air Programme
Posted 22nd September 2024
Dixons Marchbank Primary were recently awarded funding from the Clean Air Schools Programme. The funding required Dixons Marchbank to come up with ideas to improve air quality. Due to being on a shared site with a lot of cars and buses going past their playground area, the school decided to put up living screens to reduce air pollution.
The school also wanted more students to come to school on their bikes as opposed to via cars and buses. They held a 'Dr Bike' session where anyone in the community could come and drop off their bikes and the wonderful people from 'Ready Steady Pedal' would repair them free of charge.
Towards the end of the summer break, the school arranged a ‘family learn to ride’ session where parents and children could come and learn how to ride a bike. The representative from the Clean Air School Programme has been visiting the school and is very happy with the way the funding has been used.
