Wildlife gardening award for Dixons Marchbank
Posted 15th February 2024
Staff and students at Dixons Marchbank have been celebrating their Wildlife Gardening Award, which was launched by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust in March 2023 to draw attention to the importance of gardens for preserving local wildlife.
Throughout 2023, students worked hard to create a beautiful bee garden and bug hotels; parents were invited to plant trees, fruit trees and hedges to encourage wildlife; and the gardening club planted beautiful wild flowers which resulted in the school grounds bursting with colour.
Staff members Hannah Stevens, Nicola Bethel and Peter Hannam were recognised for playing a pivotal part in the success of the garden and help keep the garden looking beautiful all year round. It really is a community and team effort that brings joy to all.
